Description
This variable describes if there is a construction-, maintenance- or utility-zone before, at or after the accident site.
Whether a construction, maintenance or utility zone is present or not is noted for each road.
- None
- There is no contruction, maintenance or utility zone before, at or after the accident site.
- Construction Zone
- There is a construction zone before, at or after the accident site. A construction zone includes construction within the road or roadside area and the work is considered long-term if it is more than one day of work and it is marked with signs, barricades etc., day and night. The work is considered as stationary or short-term if it is one day during daylight, e.g. replacement of barriers, pavement work.
- Maintenance Zone
- There is a maintenance zone before, at or after the accident site. A maintenance zone includes work that is considered intermittent, i.e. it is carried out at an uneven speed, with short stops or at a considerably lower speed than other traffic, e.g. pavement marking, exchange of road signs and clearing of vegetation in the road side.
- Utility Zone
- There is a utility zone before, at or after the accident site. A utility zone includes work that is considered mobile, i.e. it is carried out at an even speed along the road, e.g. plowing and salting.
