Description
The approach direction of the pedestrian to the vehicle is coded with use of the o'clock system in 30° steps. Each o'clock direction defines an angle range of +/- 15°. The direction from which the pedestrian approached the vehicle is coded from the view of the vehicle (forward facing occupants). The reference point is always the vehicle in the collision point and not the momentary vehicle position before the impact (e.g. a "6" is coded if the pedestrian moved in the same direction as the vehicle, a "12" if the pedestrian came from the opposite direction, or a "3" if the pedestrian approached from the right).
